How cool is my little Bro?! He took a gal from Hurricane to his prom in Kanab. There aren't many young guys out there that are so cool, funny, humble, and witty as him! Check out some more of his funny ways on my mom's site http://www.marvsfam.blogspot.com/ He must have gotten his witty ways from me:)! ......NOT!

Happy Birthday Duke! Our surprise colt from last year had his birthday on the 19th. His white winter coat is slowly shedding off. His shoulders have shed really well and it's a pretty golden color underneath. I took him for a sunday afternoon stroll yesterday, then gave him a bath to help the shedding process. He's such a sweetheart! As I said before he was born, "Every girl needs a palomino!"

This is Duke's daddy "Imperial Golden Cinder" back in Missouri. Duke's papered name is "Royal Golden Duke". His mommy's name is "Royal Serenade".

Stock Show!

Shaylee has been showing her steer in the Dixie Jr. Livestock Show since Thursday. She did so good! Her steer eventually sold for $2400 today! YAY! She did really well with him, teaching him to square up his feet really well. It's so crazy seeing such a little girl tug around a 1275 pound animal! GO GIRL! Today just before it was her turn to show him for the auction, I caught her laying next to her steer "chuck". She was so bonded to him, that after he sold, she took him out to the big pen to go with the rest of the sold steers, and it was hard for her to take off the halter and say her farewell. :( She was trying to hide it, but her eyes were welling up. I got a little choked up after seeing her walk away from that experience. He would have been a good backyard pet. Now he'll be a nice juicy steak, and onto greener pastures elsewhere! :)

The other day I cut up a banana for Shalyce's breakfast, and she was happily munching away in her highchair, so I thought I'd sit in my recliner and check my emails, etc. A few minutes later Corb said, "Look at baby sister, mom!" I turned around and this is what I saw:

Scared me to death. (No I didn't grab the camera first, I grabbed her, then later on I had her do a reenactment with me 1 foot away instead of across the room). Apparently the tray wasn't snug against her belly, so she had enough room to get turned around, stand up and crawl up and over her tray! When I bought the high chair for Corbin 4 years ago, I CUT OFF the seat belt straps. "Who needs those things"?! Well, I NEED them now! And I cut them off!

A couple weeks ago Shaylee asked if we could, for her birthday, have a horse play day. So, today came quickly and I wasn't ready. I went to the internet, called a few kids with horses and arranged a quick & fun day. I went to the store and bought some non-toxic paint so the kids could paint their horses. That was a riot! Corbin TOTALLY got into that! He wanted HIS horse! I helped him get his first letter started (C) then he was stoked to finish the rest. He then wanted a batman painted on Licorice's head, so I tried:), then he wanted a superman symbol on his horse, too! He also had to do what everyone else was doing, and wanted his handprint on his horse, just like an old indian pony! (Yep, the horses are still covered in their paint and I don't see me washing it off anytime soon. My dog is way overdue for a bath and he's only 12 pounds, I don't see me with all my spare time washing 3 horses). Shay, Megan, Sarah & Amanda also painted their masterpieces on their ponies. Then we followed up with a game of "Musical cones", "Simon Says" and a cracker eating race--all horseback games. It was so fun! Corb was the DJ for the musical cones portion of the day. SHalyce had fun playing in her playpen, then taking a little nap, too.

I saw this little boy's story on the news tonight and went to their blog that they were showing on TV. http://charliecooperjackjack.blogspot.com It's touching, and I urge everyone to pray for this little boy and his family. You can also donate very easily to their fund if you have a paypal account, right off of thier blog! The little tot looks not much older than Shalyce, and he came down with a type of spinal menengitis and lost his hearing and eyesight. Wouldn't it be so awesome if everyone posted thier blog link on your blog so they could have more donations, and more prayers...

Corb saw Dave start to mow the lawn and immediately yelled with excitement,"Can I try, dad?" So of course, let's get him started young! I didn't think about the danger when I was snapping pictures, but now thinking about it, we don't let him play with scissors unattended, but we will let him play with a larger than life blade, that's powered by a motor! Well, I know I started mowing our huge lawn up in Orem when I was 7 yrs old, so he's just a couple years short of my mark:) Let's get him started now! YIPPEE! p.s. if you happen to visit our house, make sure to not leave anything around the outskirts of the building, or it may be eaten alive by the mowing monster!

Last night we went to Tyler A's family dinner/reception. So we decided since we were making the trip, we'd pack 4 horses along with us and bring Shaylee to go for a fun ride. It seems like you never run into fences when you ride up there, I LOVE IT! Anyway, here's some fun pics! It was a windy day up there, my eyes are full of dirt still! Looks like we got 10 miles per gallon hauling up the full trailer, and against the wind both ways! ARGH! Uncle Cody rode his mustang, "Shrek", Zack rode Licorice, I rode Diamond, Dave rode Sally, and Shay rode Jack. I definately need to move up there...now can I get that to order WITHOUT snow?

Yesterday, corb was walking behind my recliner while I was putting my shoes on, and I heard a rumbler from his pants. I turned around saying, "Wow, corb, did you toot?" He smiled and said "Yep" then his smile quickly went away, while he twisted around to take a peek in his pants...He gambled and LOST! Poor boy, it happened twice yesterday. He felt fine, acted fine all day, just a little loosy goosy! As sisalee would say, "Scrape your legs"! That reminds me, I better move the laundry along :)

WhatchaDoin?

Dave snapped these cute pics of Shalyce peeking over Corbin's shoulder watching him play games on the computer. I have a feeling she's going to be watching her big brother's shoulder quite a bit in the decades to come:-)

Well, Danielle made it to the MTC in Provo today at about 1:00. Dad, Tyler & Mom went with her. She didn't ever cry when it was time to go! I think it will hit her in a few days. Corbin stayed overnight with them last night to get as much time in as possible. He didn't really understand that she's going to be gone for such a long time. He just said, K, bye, then walked away! She was originally supposed to fly out from St. George and head to the Brazil MTC, but her visa isn't here yet.

Flowers!

Katie makes some really cute flowers. Her business is Clips from Madi's Garden, and you'll soon see her flowers at CHristensen's iN St. George! Shalyce will finally keep a headband on if I distract her right after I put it on. So, hopefully it'll stay that way! Can you guess which flower would be corbin's favorite flower for Shalyce to wear??? Think.."Supergirl"! If you'd like something specially made, let me know and I'll hook you up!

Hair ideas

Thanks to Maren for showing us a cool website for cute ideas for doing little girl's hair! www.shedoeshair.blogspot.com Check it out! Let me borrow your daughters so I can experiment! I still have a bald beauty, doing the headband thing, and very rarely a little ponytail on top of her head!:)

Shay was over for lessons the other day and it started to rain, so we put the horse away. About 5 minutes after we put him away, the clouds cleared up! So instead of gambling whether we should get him back out, Shay asked if we could make a cake. I knew, and she knew, that I had a cake mix in the cupboard. So I got everything that she needed out to mix & etc. and she said it was her first cake that she made! So to make this an especiallly great occasion, I found some pink icing so she could write her name on it! Great job, shay! I wish you would have taken the cake home with you, cuz I ATE most of it ALL BY MYSELF!

Dave thought I photoshopped the color of her eyes, but NOPE, they are her own beautiful blues!

Dave was reading my post about Corbin poopin in the dirt, and wiping his rear. He started laughing when he read how I spelled "bumb". Now I've spelled it like that my whole life. I was always in the spelling bees at school, always been a near excellent speller. He is saying that you spell it B-U-M, like a bum off the street-HOBO! I need a poll taken to see if anyone else has seen the word referring to someone's butt, spelled as B-U-M-B! If it's not a real word, then it's such a sad day in my life! :)

Seems like everyone else seems to be writing about their hubbies, so looking back at my blog, I need to write more about my true love, too! This is my favorite recent picture of Dave. We were stuck in a big muddy mess with the truck and horse trailer, waiting for help, and I couldn't help but snap a shot of my tough man, who can figure out how to get us out of any trouble. I'm so glad he's a REAL MAN that can fix ANYTHING! I've always been attracted to guys who could fix problems, and boy, did I bring a big problem to this relationship-ha ha-ME! He seems to fix any quirk I have, and he does it the same way my Grandpa Allen would have. Quietly and quickly. His hands are just as rough as grandpa's, too. Another sign of a hard working man! I wouldn't trade him for a whole nest of rattlesnakes! Love ya SHUGA! :)

Carlie winning 1st place!
Ally & Blit-Z-Blue
Megan & Golden Chance

Saturday, April 5, 2008

Today Shaylee and Jack had their first horse show! They both did really good! Jack was such a sweetheart, taking care of Shaylee, Carlie & Ally. He acted like he'd done it a million times! I am so excited about him making little kids happy during his horse life!:) Shaylee got 2nd place, Carlie got a 2nd and a 1st. Ally won a 5th and a 1st on Jack, also. Ally's horse, Blitzy, had a really good show today, also. She kicked trash taking home a handful of 1st place ribbons. However, the jumping class was missing a good spur-kick and both her and Meg's horse refused a couple jumps. :( Meg had a "practice" show day today. Chance has been really good this whole week, even during the warm-up today, but when he went into his class, I think he could feel Meg tense up and he exerted all of his energy! Well, Meg, chalk that up to experience and a good story!

Okay, I'm playing catch-up since my modem took an unexcused absence.

March 17th, St. Patty's Day, Corb, Danielle and myself made a green dinner! Haamburger Helper casserole, with green food coloring, salad, green jello, pina colada drinks colored green, with a lime floating! Corb and Dave could hardly stomach the idea of their casserole and drinks being green, but they ate it anyway!

It was also Shalyce's 1st Birthday on March 20th! She wasn't so sure about the messy brown stuff on her fingers, but if she wasn't forced from dad, maybe she would have enjoyed the chocolate! I can't believe it's been a year! Corbin wanted to make her a Heart Shaped cake, he loves taking care of his little sister.

Here's another example of Corb taking care of his little sister... He wanted to feed her some sweet potatoes the other day, so I grabbed the camera because I knew it wouldn't last too long! And it didn't! He got frustrated about 30 seconds later because Shalyce moves around so quickly! Most of it got on her bib instead of in her mouth, but it was so cute to watch!
And now for miss Vanity, actually miss CUTIE! I bought a mirror the other day and she loves to giggle at her reflection. Here she is pretty much doing the splits, leaning over to the mirror on the ground looking at herself and giggling!
