I just read on ksl.com about this story of a woman who left her 3 young children home so she could go party. click here to read the whole story... http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=3880698 Her oldest was 8 yrs old and the youngest was 3 WEEKS old (with pnemonia). I loved the statement the SGT. said..."Please be responsible," Sgt. Salazar said. "If you're a partier, close that chapter in your life when you have children, and grow up. Just take care of the kids." AMEN!! You will either grow up now, or be forced to afterwards when your kids will despise you for wrecking their lives because you just HAD to party! I'm not the perfect mom out there, and I don't want to sound self-righteous, but you have to have some ounce of a conscience to not treat your children this way. (This story hits a little too close to home and it's horrible to have to watch the children go through it...) Children are a gift, not a nuisance, and we don't get a second chance at raising them the right way...

Twilight

Okay, I did it! I fell into the book that so many of you have told me to read! I didn't finish it quite as quickly as most of you out there, but it was record reading time for me! I think it took me 3 days, in between naptimes and times when I should have been doing the laundry :). However I did enjoy it! It made me want to keep turning pages. THen last night when I finished it I grabbed the laptop and watched the movie trailer for the book, and was disappointed that Edward wasn't more handsome, but that actor that plays him does very well pass of as a vampire! Anyway, I'm already 150 pages into the next book today and my house is a wreck! Well, it's almost always a wreck, but right now it SMELLS like it hasn't been cleaned! And I have visiting teachers coming in the morning, YIKES!

If you are debating on a new kitty for your home, watch this video of a larger kitty and the possibilities of what the feline world can do to your home. Remember, I grew up with 2 cats that slept on my bed with me and I dressed them up and loved them. Now, after going through another cat thing a few years ago, I have lost my love of the kitty love, especially after watching this! Remember, the smaller kitties do the same thing as the big cats in this video! click here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7RqkPy0lBQ&NR=1

This morning we hussled our fannies getting horses ready and booked it to the parade. Carlie and Corbin rode Licorice. Blackmore twins rode their horse, Diamond, and their sister Kyndal led their horse. I led Jack with Shaylee & Laska riding him down the parade route. The horses were all really good! The kids were even cuter! Corbin rode in his new saddle that he got for his birthday. I have to say he was one of the best "wavers" to the crowd! He was loving it! He's such a cute little cowboy!

Sorry for not showing up to the cousin's reunion. I know Sally put a lot of work into it and I was planning on going for months, but I don't need to put the boring reasons why I didn't show... I'm glad we didn't end up going camping in Pine Lake anyway, since I heard that it just POURED rain the days we would have been there. So we went to my Dad's Friday night, swam in his pool Saturday, went to the new Batman movie- which rocked my world!-- then Dave & I went to "Get Smart" later that night in Provo which is pretty funny. Sunday we went to church up there, then had lunch with my Grandma Whittaker and I was able to go visit with her quite a bit later on. Then Monday I left Shalyce with Jolyn for the WHOLE day while the rest of us (Dad, Dave, Zack, Aly, Adam, & Corbin) went to Lagoon! Corbin wasn't afraid of anything, well except the Terroride (Haunted house). In fact, he would bawl if he wasn't tall enough to go on some of the larger rides! He was only about an inch too small :( He loved Rattlesnake Rapids, and him and Dave got drenched under the waterfall! Here's some video of that scene!
Corbin LOVED the log ride! He wanted to keep going over and over! Here's some video of them going the 2nd time!

Corbin started to understand the concept of "Waiting in line for his turn"...SO ANXIOUS!

How about this view from the Cabin's front porch swing???! It was overcast, and Lisa took this picture with her awesome camera, too!

I just found these pics in my computer of Duke up to Kolob. Lisa took these pics, also (with her awesome camera!)... I can't wait to see what he'll look like in a few years! I'm debating on keeping his "family jewels" attached for a while, maybe freezing some of his "goods" for later "use" ;). He has great conformation, his daddy's a world grand champion producer, and his momma's a sweetheart that's built to the HILT! I'm hoping he'll be another clone of Licorice with his babysitting traits with the kiddos. :)For some reason, Licorice's coat fades lighter just where the saddle sweat has been...hmm...
Well, it looks like we're gonna be gone again! We were planning on going camping this weekend, but not so sure that will pan out very well. Corbin has been asking to go up to my dad's for quite a while now, Shalyce has been on a humidifier for a while (just for nighttime coughs) which doesn't work while you're camping :). So, we're gonna head up to Orem and we'd like to fit Lagoon in the picture while we're at it, but I also have been looking forward to going to the Marva Allen Girl cousin's reunion in Kingston on Monday...so we'll have to see what we can fit in :).

On Tuesday morning, Jen & Kenny had their baby boy, Adam Wesley Jessop. He's about 6 lbs. 13 oz. (I think) Pretty much a little football! Such a cutie! I wish I had a picture of him to post on here! I'll have to update this later!

Then this weekend we went to the cabin and took the Perry family along with us (also Ally Hamm & 6 horses). We set up a horseback treasure hunt for the kids, and it was great! Except Dave's mare and Craig's mare ended up being lame or injured before we set off, Here's a picture of Dave, Corbin & SHalyce riding "Sally" before we realized she was in pain! Poor girl!
So long story short, Dave, Corbin & me rode the ATV's behind the Perry gang! Here's a pic of Dave & Corbin after they dipped their heads in the water trough at Big Meadow! Cheezers! I got some cool shots of the treasure hunt.
Here's a picture of Jacob trying to find a clue in the "Haunted Cabin" (the old cabin down by the pond) and his horse "Cameo" peeking inside!
Later on, the adults wanted to go for a ride, and Ally babysat the kids so we could leave. We weren't gone for long, because a HUGE storm rolled in, lightning popping everywhere, and it got chilly pretty quick, too! So we reversed our course really quick, and the horse I was riding couldn't run fast enough for me, since I had a puddle in my saddle, and the rain was just PELTING us! It was really fun! After we tied them up to the hitchin post, we ran inside the saddle shed, laughin it up, then decided we probably should take the saddles off...After that, we booked it to the cabin, took turns changing into dry clothing and just laughing about RIDING in the RAIN...oh, and leaving Dave with a new colt to put up the gate behind us, so his horse was going nuts that it was being ditched by her buddies, and he's trying to shut the gait in the pouring rain, holding onto her reins, cussin' under his breath probably the whole time. OOPS! Sorry honey! I was the first one through the gate! he he! It was perfect weather for some good photo ops, however. The good pictures were taken by Lisa and her nice camera. The ones that had a SMUDGE on the lens were from my camera...;(

Friday morning, we packed up our stuff and headed to Kanab to spend the day with Grandma Marvalee! We were too late for the parade, so G-ma, Corbin & I went down to the park to check things out. Dave & Shalyce stayed at G-ma's house to take naps while we braved the heat. However, Corbin didn't enjoy the heat or playground much, he was too "wet" or sweaty & hot! G-ma did buy him a little potato gun and a hot dog, so that was good enough for Corb!

Later on we met up with Jim & Cheryl and went for a 4-wheeler ride up to the TV towers in Kanab. http://marvsfam.blogspot.com/2008/04/welcome-to-kanab.html Click on this link for the full view! Later on, G-ma and I went downtown to go watch a gal sing in the old theater along with some other guys singing old country tunes. Then we came home in a hustle and went to go watch the fireworks that the city did. They went on for a long time! Then we came back go G-ma's house to do fireworks on her front porch. At first, Corbin wasn't too keen on the idea of holding a sparkler (He hasn't been afraid in the past years about it) but he eventually had a lot of fun with it all!

Saturday morning we went up to Pine Lake to go meet up with the crazy family at the Gleave Reunion. I haven't been to the reunion for a few years, and Dave had NEVER been! If you are related to me or have "Gleave" running through your veins, you better go next year ( our family's in charge of it next year, too)! It's so awesome to go and see so many distant cousins that have such a tight bond that no other family anywhere else has. 2nd, 3rd cousins, too! And it seems you can tell who has the "Gleave" look, too! Not just the attire, but the look of G-pa & G-ma Gleave! They were a good lookin couple, I might add!

Arby was throwing horseshoes the whole time, cussin' up a storm, cowboy hats everywhere (yes we were equipped, too) and fun folks all around!

Here's a pic of Karl throwing shoes...so meticulously!!

I saw Uncle Greg at a glance, and I hadn't seen him for MONTHS, and I thought I saw a ghost of Grandpa! It made me tear up INSTANTLY! He stood like him, he has the same profile, and he even had the same kind of sunglasses stuffed in his front pocket like Grandpa did! I asked him where his doublemint gum was! It was missing! :) This picture doesn't do him justice, so watch some video I have posted on here to get the full effect! Greg had to go through the stomach bypass surgery for diabetes and he's lost about 130 pounds in just a couple months! He looks and acted so happy & energetic!

Rob & Greg were on a horseshoe throwing team together against Arby, and they didn't win, but they sure were fun to watch!

Uncle Rob & Auntie Sally entertained like they always do! He's the younger Johnny Cash and he sounds just like him! Here's a sneek peek...

Oh, and here's a video of Uncle Gary hesitantly giving me his SIGNATURE "Hello". When I first asked him to say "hello" he thought I wanted him to say "Eat SH**! Hey,I asked for it, and only he can perform it so perfectly! If he knew I had this posted up on the internet he'd CRAP A BRICK and personally show up at my door to do so! HE HE! So, don't let it get to him, K?!?!?!?! :)

And this morning (Sunday morning) we left Kanab at 8:00 AM to head over to Enterprise for Jim & Trudy's baby (Emily Darlene Jessop) blessing at 10:45. We got there JUST in the Nic' of time! Here's a pic of the cutie & her older brother Triston just before we left...I wish I had a picture of her before they took her blessing dress off.

9 years!

Happy Late Anniversary SHUGA! Our anniversary was on THursday, the 26th. As we were on our way to the temple that morning, we were driving my silver Mitsubishi Galant, I was in a purple dress my mom insisted on me wearing, and it was just Dave & me on our way :) Thinking back on that, wouldn't that be bad luck? Seeing the bride beforehand? Well, I think all rules don't apply when you go to the temple, right?! We were on our way, and looked down at the time on the car's clock and it said 11:11 a.m....So we thought that was cool, I guess, smooched on our way to get married, while Dave was driving...and so now that time (11:11) is pretty significant for us. Anytime we catch the time being 11:11 we'll text each other something fun. So with it being about 2 minutes from that time (conveniently) here's to you SHUGA! LOVE YA! MMUUaaaHHH!
